Clutch Cover Oil Leak
Question :
Okay, I got hit at a red light and my bike went down. I’ve replaced my clutch cover and must have gone wrong somewhere. The cover is leaking at (I think) the rubber seal that the sensor wire goes through. My question is:
1: Is there an easy fix to this? Will I have to remove the cover again?
2: If I must remove the cover is there an easier way to remove? My last cover was damaged so no big deal that I damaged (more) on removal. The first cover came off very hard. When re-installing the rubber seal for the sensor wire how the heck can I keep it in place?
Answer :
Either drain the oil or pull the cover with the bike on the kickstand to keep any oil from complicating things. Pull the cover and make sure you clean both mating surfaces with brake cleaner, use Hondabond applying a LIGHT coat on the engine case mating surfaces. Other than the harness routing from the cover, make sure the starting clutch gear is fully seated and engaged (best to dry fit the cover prior to applying bond) – you may have to rotate the crank forward or backward slightly to allow freeplay but it should fit on with easily. Bond it and torque it! Hope this helps
